Since the Covid-19 financial crisis, UNIMAKER 2020 has been running on a modified version of the old UNIMAKER platform. As we all know that many manufacturers are taking an active part in coming up with new and innovative ways for undergraduates to engage in Making, so that they are able to keep up with the current changes. However, the university itself is also playing a significant part in shaping the platform of this project. The university administration is involved in the process of determining the type of modules that would be taught in the new college. So, what will be the type of modules that are taught in the UNIMAKER 2020 college? The main modules are going to include modules on Making, Designing, Engineering and Design, Materials, Design Processes, and Design Theory. However, this is just one facet of the university's project. Some departments have also been involved in designing the modules that are currently being taught in the University of California campus. For example, Design Theory module will be taught in a different manner compared to Making. Making module will teach students to use a range of tools such as hand tools, mechanical tools, or a mixture of both. The design concepts that will be taught in Design Theory module will give students the ability to use CAD (Computer Aided Design) technology and design tools. Moreover, Students who are enrolled in Design Theory module will also have the ability to design a 3D model by means of an online CAD software. Students are required to submit a portfolio to the Design Theory supervisor in order to gain certification after completing the course. Once the students have successfully completed Design Theory, they will also be able to apply these concepts in the production of a model.
